50 shades of Grey – The film : All about the sex?

“Kelly Marcel, the British screenwriter charged with translating the bestselling book onto the big screen, has insisted the success of the novel is not just down to sex.

Instead, she claims it is the romance of the sado-masochistic tale which so appeals to women, with the 50 Shades trilogy being a “modern love story”.”

 - Are you sure that the popularity is not all about the sex??

  1. Honestly, I think it is. This whole “alpha male” crap isn’t new. It, along with sex, is persistent among any genre with the word romance in it and I say that as a big fan of paranormal romance. The differene between 50 Shades and other romance is the marketing. They put classy covers on them and act like it’s not smut because everyone’s reading it, when really there’s more plot in those books with the half naked men on them. Far more plot.
